What is the difference between joint and sole parental responsibility?

Joint parental responsibility is when parents share or jointly make all major decisions regarding their minor children. Major decisions are religion, health care, education. Sole parental responsibility is when one parent is granted the right to make those major decisions without the input of the other parent. Sole parental responsibility is rarely granted, and it is a high standard because you must prove detriment to the child before it is awarded to you.
